Ingredients:

  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo Cookies
  • 1.5 cups (255g) Red Candy Melts
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Coconut oil
  • 48 medium Edible Candy Eyes
  • 0.25 cup (45g) Mini Chocolate Chips

Instructions:

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Ensure your Oreos are all intact and not cracked.
  2. Place 1.5 cups (255g) Red Candy Melts in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, stir, and repeat until almost melted. Note: Residual heat will melt the remaining lumps.
  3. Stir in 1 tsp (5ml) Coconut oil until the red coating is velvety and drips off the spoon in a steady ribbon.
  4. Hold an Oreo by one edge and dip it halfway into the red candy. Wait until the excess chocolate stops dripping before placing it on the parchment.
  5. Lay the cookie flat. The dipped half is the bug's body.
  6. Immediately place two candy eyes on the red portion, near the center line where the chocolate meets the cookie.
  7. Press 3-4 mini chocolate chips into the red coating to create the ladybug spots. Work quickly before the candy sets!
  8. Let the cookies sit at room temperature for 15 minutes or pop them in the fridge for 10 minutes until the coating is matte and firm.
