Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1.5 cups Oreo cookies, roughly chopped
  • 0.75 cup Valentine’s M&Ms
  • 0.5 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats. Note: Using a silicone mat can result in a slightly chewier bottom compared to parchment.
  2. Beat 1 cup softened unsalted butter, 0.75 cup granulated sugar, and 0.75 cup packed light brown sugar in a large bowl. Cook for 3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add 2 large room temperature eggs one at a time. Mix in 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract until the mixture looks like velvety buttercream.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk 3 cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 0.5 teaspoon sea salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet on low speed. Stop as soon as the last streak of flour disappears to avoid a tough texture.
  6. Hand fold in 1.5 cups chopped Oreos, 0.5 cup white chocolate chips, and 0.75 cup Valentine’s M&Ms. Note: Use a wide spatula to prevent crushing the Oreos further.
  7. Scoop 2 tablespoon mounds of dough onto the sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
  8. Press the remaining 0.25 cup M&Ms and a few extra Oreo shards into the tops of each dough ball. This creates that viral worthy look.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Bake until the edges are set and barely golden while the centers still look slightly soft.
  10. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes. Cool until the structure sets before moving to a wire rack to finish. The top loading technique in step 8 is the most important part of the presentation. By placing the candies directly on top rather than just mixing them in, you ensure that the vibrant reds and pinks stay on the surface where they can be seen. This is a trick used by professional bakers to make their products look more abundant and appetizing.
